Apocalypse fa-shun.

I've only given this a little bit of thought.

If it is the end of the world, fashion is going to be the very LAST in what you're thinking about. Unless, its for survival techniques. Specifically, intimidation and camouflage. There are always two kinds of people in post-apocalyptic movies: foragers, and hunters.

Personally speaking, I would be a content to forage and hide wearing simple camouflage clothing for the rest of my life. I would be content to avoid all confrontation, like a little turtle. No more high heels, make up or jewellery, just camo and the basics for me.

Iridescent VS Holographic

I've been having a little too much fun with Pinterest, and thanks to NYmag.com, I've learned about Glossi.com! You can make your own magazine with the ease of a few clicks, so here's mine on the difference between iridescent and holographic.

$55,000 for this?

I think that the Olsen twins have finally started watching Very Mary Kate. The girls collaborated with artist Damien Hirst to conceive, tah dah! Perscription pill bags. If you feel like you can't live without one, check it out here. At least some of the proceeds go to Unicef. Buyer beware, people (or crackheads) may try to rip the pills off your bag. I can smell the DIYs coming. Can you?

Dear Nicolas, you're breaking my heart.

L to R SS13, FW12/13, SS12, FW 11/12, SS11, FW 10/11, SS10

As almost everyone already knows, Nicolas Ghesquière is leaving Balenciaga after 15 years of service. I couldn't be more upset! His Motorcycle bag was my very first (and last) designer handbag purchase, and that was only after I spent the summer of  '06 making poutine and freeze scraping gum off chairs at UWO's The Spoke Club. I minimum-waged my way to a supple red leather bag, which is now a little worse for wear. I broke a stud while dancing like a maniac, and replaced it with an actual piece of hardware. For SHAME!

The First Rule of Wearing White

Don't do it. I always learn this lesson the hard way.  It all started when I scored a new Moon Apparel dress for 25% off at their pop up shop (go. now.). What a sweet dress! I can wear it to Vegas! I can wear it for work! I clearly wasn't thinking of the stain consequences.

La dee dah! I'm out the door, off to work for an on-site project, maybe I can bike there! Wait. Check bike seat first. Crisis averted. Next obstacle: Lifting dirty boxes becomes a challenge when I can't support them with my pot-belly. Luckily for me, this dress is pretty much wrinkle resistant!

Feeling accomplished that I spent the whole day without gaining a single unsightly stain, after work I went to my friends house to discuss our new online store venture, Moonrise Vintage.  Not going to lie, I was really excited to show off my business partners the newest dress in my collection paired with my Pamela booties

Third obstacle, food! We picked up churrasqueira Portuguese chicken with hot sauce. Delicious and deadly, especially with white. Deciding to avoid heartbreak, I took off my dress and ate in my slip. Hey, we're among friends! After dinner I decide to put my dress back on, thinking I was in the clear.

Then it happened. We were giggling and listening to old youtube videos, and I SPILLED RED WINE ALL OVER MY NEW DRESS. I wanted to cry.

Gracious Alexandra lent me some clothes, green cargo pants and a navy tee, only for us to make fun of the Giant Tiger ensemble. The girls couldn't stop laughing when I said that I looked like the bus driver from South Park.  This is what happens when you ruin white clothing. Instagram to come soon.

MMM x H&M: The Pre-Shopping Party or a lesson in self control

Photo of Toronto's Silent Parade, via @H&M's instagram

The world has been anticipating the Martin Maison Margiela collection with H&M for a little while now, and I was ready to participate. I booked 2 days off of work to line up overnight, but to my luck, starting a fashion blog has its perks. Namely, being invited to the pre-shopping party.

Iri-Iri-Iridescent

I've recently become obsessed with goniochromism, oil-slick or all things iridescent. I'm not sure if it started when I saw this H&M sequin skirt (and only did not buy because my butt is simply too bootylicious), or if it was Derick Chetty's Kenzo runners or Amanda Lew Kee's FW 2011 collection. It might have even been the spontaneous Greta Constantine show at WMCFW. Whatever it is, it takes me back to elementary school: snap bracelets, hologram sticker collections and My Little Ponies  (Update, my sister just reminded me that it was a love of salmon skin, which I thought I could seal in resin and make jewellery out of it. Gross!)

It's season-less, futuristic and fun. Obviously, I've been pinning the crap out of it

Welcome to the dark side:

Joe Fresh Holiday 2012: The Must Haves

All images via Joe Fresh's Facebook

Joe Fresh has just released their holiday lookbook! Full of colour and cool, there's something for everyone. Check out the full lookbook here. Even though I shop in their stores almost every week, (in hopes of finding this jacket) I always come out with something else.  Seriously Joe, get your e-shopping started!

Scroll for turtlenecks, bubble skirts and girlish glam! The turtlenecks are cute, but to quote Mitch Hedburg, "it kind of feels like a really weak guy choking you". I think it's just post-traumatic dress syndrome (get it?) from being in elementary school in the 90's.

If you spend more than $50, you can get a free $10 voucher! Who says no to free money? No one. Here's what you can do with that cash, moneybags!

Halloweiner 2012 : Suzy Bishop

I'm a big fan of Halloween, specifically home-made costumes. Every year, my friends try to think of topical yet obscure costumes, and always have me giggling about something inappropriate. Last minute as usual, went as Suzy Bishop from Moonrise Kingdom, since I already had most of the parts for a Wes Anderson type costume, and totally nabbed the idea from a friend who had chosen something else. Can Mr. Anderson please take up fashion design? Maybe creative fashion direction?  I would invest.

Pamela Love for Nine West

Pamela Love x Nine West - available online at www.ninewest.ca in the red and silver combo! $350.00 CAD

I've been searching for some great boots for this Fall, and so far have relegated my shoe purchases to cute heels, wedges and sneakers wedges. I need to stop buying silly things and get a shoe I need!

I was blown away when I saw that superbabe jewellery designer Pamela Love was working on a capsule collection with Nine West, and that Canada would be getting my favourite colour (I mean, black is rad too, but I'm excited to have something different)!  Maybe the red was selected because of our flag? ANYWAY. They're a great red colour that will bring some pizazz a winter wardrobe. Inspired by southwestern travellers, this bootie is tough without being a tryhard.

Canadians, wanna get your hands on a pair of these badass boots? Keep your eye on Nine West Canada's website for the exclusive collaboration, they will be available tomorrow! Americans, you can get the shoes at Nine West or online here.

Burnin' a hole in my pocket: Fitzroy Boutique

A preview of things to come from Blessed are the Meek, SS13 at Fitzroy Boutique. Can I still pull off sequin shorts? Uh, yah!

I fell in love with Fitzroy Boutique ever since I found out about their pop up shop about a year ago. They hired me to make a little video for them at their first location in Yorkville, and after that, I was hooked! They carry the coolest lines from Blessed are the Meek to Whitney Eve and Show me your Mumu (totally choice printed chiffon). Nothing is priced over $200, and it's great stuff you won't find anywhere else in Toronto. Plus the owners, Angela and Julie, are totally sweet and easy to shop with! Self described as boho glam, these girls have something for everyone.

Joe Fresh SS13: Silks, Seat fights and Supermodels

I am obsessed with Joe Fresh! I visit the store at least once a week, in hopes of finally grabbing this oxblood burgundy patent leather jacket. Their Spring Summer 2013 collection graced the runway last night at World Mastercard Fashion Week at David Pecaut Square, and like many other fashion pilgrims, I wore my new Joe Fresh mystery man sweater just for the occasion.

MMM x H&M

I've never been one to line up for a H&M collaboration, but there's always a first time for everything! I've booked two days off work, one for prep, and one for the day of. I'm almost wishing that I asked for a third day so I can recover from the insane sleepover that will be the Eaton Centre lineup at Yonge and Dundas. Ick!

Many collections have come and gone from H&M, and I'm always amazed at what people will buy because of a label. I don't want to line up for Maison Martin Margiela just because it's super exclusive, or that the designer has only been photographed once (that we know of). I want to put myself through excruciating sleep deprivation because the clothes are amazing. Check out my top 3 picks, of which I am not leaving without at least one of them:

It's about time.

Shoes: Zara, Pants: H&M, bike: Public (so fast)

I've been an observer  / participant of the fashion industry for a very long time, and am kicking myself that I hadn't started fashion blog sooner!

That's not completely true. I've started about 5 blogs, and have contributed to a few online magazines. I have a severe case of ADD when it comes to the internet. I was on lookbook.nu when it first came out (thank god those photos are gone), had a year long stint on Tumblr for a while, and started my own fashion webseries. I noticed what other successful blogs had that I didn't. Continuity. So, here's my 4th or 5th attempt at getting a good blog on the roll.

What I need:

1. A great camera.
2. Discipline to post at least twice a week.
3. Some HTML help. (any tips?)

xx
